Volleyball Dominates on Opening Day

EDMONDS, WA — The Linn-Benton Women's Volleyball team picked up right where they left off defeating Olympic Community College and Edmonds Community College on Friday, Aug 26. 

The Roadrunners began their 2022 Season on the road, headed north to Edmonds Community College.

In their first game, the Roadrunners defeated Olympic Community College in 3 sets(25-7, 25-16, and 25-10). Roadrunner Taya Manibusan led the offensive attack with 14 kills on 22 attempts and 7 digs. Savannah Hutchins had 14 assists and 10 digs. 

In their second game, the Roadrunners defeated Edmonds Community College in 3 sets(25-22, 25-11, 25-17). It was a great all around team effort for the Roadrunners with four players, having 5 or more Kills. Roadrunners Savannah Hutchins had 21 assists and 12 digs. Roadrunners Graci Zanona had 13 digs. The Roadrunners defeated the Tritons in the NWAC Playoff Quarterfinals last year. 

Next up, the Roadrunners travel 30 minutes south to Bellevue for two games against Bellevue Community College(1 P.M.) and South Puget Sound Community College(4 P.M.) on Sunday, Aug 27. The Roadrunners, who finished 32-2 last year, look to avenge one of their losses from last year against Bellevue on Sunday. 

"Our attitude is to play as if nothing has been given to us, to play with a fresh start," Roadrunners Eva Buford said.
