CENTRALIA, Wash – The Linn-Benton Women's Basketball team went 3-0 in their final non-conference tournament on Friday Dec. 16. Through Sunday Dec. 18. The Roadrunners improved to 10-1 in non-conference play.
GAME ONE
In game one the Roadrunners routed Northwest Indian College 91-37. The win marks the largest margin of victory for the Roadrunners this year so far. Roadrunners' Brooklynn Hankwitz led all scorers with 22 points shooting 8-16(50%) from the field. Roadrunners' Cienna Hartle provided 13 points off the bench, shooting 3-5(60%) from the 3-pt line.
GAME TWO
In game two the Roadrunners came out firing early to defeat Olympic College 74-48. The Roadrunners outscored the Rangers 22-12 in the first quarter, and 26-12 in the third quarter. Hankwitz once again led the offensive brigade with 17 points on 7-11(63%) shooting from the field. Hankwitz counterpart Kathleen Hale provided a double-double for the beaks, with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
GAME THREE
In game three the Roadrunners faced their toughest challenge on the weekend against North Idaho College. The Roadrunners escaped with a narrow 57-49 win against the Cardinals. The Roadrunners outscored the Cardinals 27-19 in the first half. The beaks defense held the Cardinals to just 6 points in the second quarter.
With 40 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter the Roadrunners led 52-44. After a technical foul was assessed to the Roadrunners, the Cardinals knocked down both free throws bringing the game back to 6. In the following possession an offensive rebound by Cardinals Sorrell Aldendorf led to a kick out towards teammate Cami Harris who knocked down a shot a foot behind the 3-point line, with 31 seconds left to play. The Roadrunners minimized the drama by knocking down 5 of their 6 free-throws in the last 30 seconds.
