Roadrunners Hold Off Titans, Go 2-0 on Weekend

TACOMA, Wash. – Brooklynn Hankwitz dropped 23 points on 50% shooting(11-22) from the field, and the Roadrunners were able to escape Tacoma Community College with a 62-52 win. The Roadrunners improved to 7-1 on the year, while the Titans fell to 0-7 on the year.

The Roadrunners offense struggled to get anything to fall, shooting 9-32 from the field in the first half. Defensively the beaks were able to hold the Titans to 9-26 ( 34%) shooting from the field. The beaks went into halftime up 28-26. 

In the second half, the Roadrunners looked far more composed, outsourcing the Titans 22 to 9 in the third quarter. Roadrunners Sophomore guard Jayden Ray added 7 points in the third, along with 6 points from Hankwitz. 

The third quarter run seemed to be enough for the beaks, who were able to hold off a late Tacoma run that brought the game back within ten. 

BOX SCORE

Hankwitz led all scorers in the game with 23 points. With this, Hankwitz surpassed 500 total career points as a Roadrunner. Titans guard Alexis Russell led her team with 16 points on 5-13 shooting from the field. nine of those points coming from behind the arch.

The Roadrunners travel back up to Washington for an NWAC Crossover Tournament at Centralia Community College. The Roadrunners will play three games from Friday, Dec. 16 to Sunday, Dec. 18. Game one tip-off is TBA.
