COOS BAY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Women's Basketball team beat Southwestern Oregon Community College(SWOCC) 55-47 on Wednesday Feb. 16

The Roadrunners improved to 13-6 on the season, and 5-4 in the NWAC South Region.

The Lakers fell to 4-12 on the season, and 2-7 in the NWAC South Region.

The Roadrunners found themselves in trouble early with 3 starters picking up their second fouls in the second quarter. Both teams struggled to score in the first half, with the Lakers going into halftime up 23-21.

A three-point jump shot from Ruby Krebs with 2:50 left in the third quarter gave the Roadrunners a lead that they would keep for the rest of the game.  The Roadrunners were able to turn on the offense in the fourth quarter scoring 21 points. Sabrina Albee and Emmaly Welch led the way for the Roadrunners in the fourth quarter scoring 7 and 6, respectively.

"We were able to get enough stops in the second half, we struggled to get things going offensively all night, and fortunately in the fourth quarter we were able to get ourselves to the free throw line, and did a nice job of pulling away in the fourth quarter," Roadrunner Head Coach Jerod Gibson said.

Freshman Emmaly Welch led the scoring for the Roadrunners finishing with 13 points and shooting 6-10 from the field. Welch, who is shooting 58% from the field on the year, has the third best field goal percentage in the NWAC.

"She has been real steady for us and with Brooklynn [Hankwitz] in foul trouble tonight, she did a really nice job of stepping in." Head Coach Jerod GIbson said about Welch.

Next up the Roadrunners stay home to take on Clark Community College on Saturday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is set for 5:30 on the Linn-Benton Albany Campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW Albany.
