Walla Walla Crossover Recap

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Linn-Benton dropped its first two games of the season buy just a total of nine points as the Roadrunners went 1-2 at the Walla Walla NWAC Women's Crossover Tournament this past weekend. 

The Roadrunners (8-2) lost to Lower Columbia 68-73 and host Walla Walla 54-58 before reboundint to top Shoreline 66-58.

Linn-Benton next hosts the LB Classic December 29-30, featuring Lane, Spokane and Shasta (Calif.).

LOWER COLUMBIA 73, LINN-BENTON 68

Brooklynn Hankwitz scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Roadrunners. Hankwitz shot 10-for-17 from the floor and went 3-for-3 at the free thrwo line.

Elizabeth Chavez added 14 points, while Maddy Ayers and Emmaly Welch added eight points apiece. Welch also collected seven rebounds and Kathleen Hale had six rebounds. The Roadrunners held the Red Devils to 36% shooting from the field. 

WALLA WALLA 58, LINN-BENTON 54

Elizabeth Chavez scored 15 points to lead the Roadrunners, who limited Walla Walla to 33% field goal shooting. 

Halo Parks scored seven points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Roadrunners tied the game at 49-49 with 4:20 remaining after Emmaly Welch's two made free throws. Halo Parks made a three-pointer with 0:22 to pull within two at 54-56, but Walla Walla converted two free throws with 0:15 left for the final margin.

LINN-BENTON 66, SHORELINE 58

Elizabeth Chavez and Brooklynn Hankwitz scored14 points apiece to lead the Roadrunner. Chavez also had a game-high 10 assistsa and Hankwitz led the Roadrunners with eight rebounds. 

Ruby Krebs and Maddy Ayers each added 12 points.
