Cougars Cruise Against Linn-Benton Men

ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Men's Basketball team lost to Clackamas Community College 91-62 on Wednesday, Feb.23. 

The Roadrunners fell to 3-16 on the season, and 1-11 in the NWAC South Region. The Clackamas Cougars improved to 14-8 on the season, and 7-5 in the NWAC South Region. 

The Cougars came into the game sitting at fourth in the NWAC South Region and two games ahead of Clark Community College. 

In the first half the Cougars came out and stifled the Roadrunners defensively, forcing tough outside shots and shutting down Roadrunners inside game.The Roadrunners shot 13-34(38%) from the field and 2-10(20%) from the three-point line in the first half. The Cougars went into halftime up 47-29. 

In the second half the Roadrunners did a better job offensively, but had no answer defensively for the three-point barrage from the Cougars. The Cougars finished the game shooting 14-29(48.3%) from the three-point line, 8 of those coming in the second half. 

Cougars David Gonzales led all scorers with 17 points, shooting 5-8 from the three-point line. Garret Workinger, Ayden Foster, and Kye Blaser led the scoring for the Roadrunners all finishing the game with 9 points. 

Next up the Roadrunners travel to take on Portland Community College on Saturday, Feb. 27. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at 600 N Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97217.
