Linn-Benton Men Lose Close One to Chemeketa

ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Men's Basketball team lost to Chemeketa Community College 100-97 on Saturday, February 5. 

The Roadrunners dropped to 2-12 on the year, and 0-7 in the NWAC South Region. Chemeketa Community College improved to 8-9 on the season, and 1-5 in the NWAC South Region. 

The Roadrunners struggled defensively in the first half, allowing the Storm to shoot 60% from the field. Jauvan Jones led the way in the first half for the Storm, scoring 21 points on 8-11 shooting from the field. The Storm led 61-42 going into halftime.

The Roadrunners would not go away in the second half however. 13 points and 10 rebounds from Ayden Foster, to go along with 14 points from Brandon Hopson Jr. and Kye Blaser each, pulled the game back within 2 points late for the Roadrunners. 

With 13 seconds left to play in the second half Jaden Stanley went 1 for 2 from the free throw line putting the Storm up 3. A deep last second 3-point shot from Brandon Hopson Jr. fell off the mark, giving the Storm a win. 

Kye Blaser led the Roadrunners in scoring with 22 points. This was Blaser's ninth game of the year scoring 20-plus points. Roadrunner Ayden Foster finished the game with a double-double scoring 17 points, and grabbing 12 rebounds. This was Foster's fifth double-double performance of the year. 

Next the Roadrunners stay home to take on Umpqua Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Linn-Benton Albany Campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW in Albany.
