Roadrunners Shut Down Columbia Basin Advance to Second Round

LONGVIEW, WASH – a 2-run blast in the third inning by Titus Dumitru gave the Beaks an early lead that they wouldn't relinquish defeating Columbia Basin Hawks 5-0 in the first round of the NWAC Baseball Championship Tournament. 

Roadrunners Chase Reynolds threw a gem on the mound, going 6 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, walking four, while striking out 2. Kellan Oakes was near perfect in 3 hitless innings of relief, striking out 3 while walking 2. 

In the fifth the Roadrunners were able to load the bases and walk in a run to extend their lead 3-0. A 2-RBI single by Kyle Perkins in the eighth, gave the Roadrunners two insurance runs. Seven different Roadrunners picked up at least one hit in the contest. 

Next up the Roadrunners will face Tacoma Community College at 4:35 P.M. on Friday, at Story Field on the campus of Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington.
