Roadrunners Sweep Lakers Saturday, Lock up Top Two Seed

ALBANY, OR – Kaden Miller pitched his third consecutive shutout, and Aidan Dougherty extended his hitting streak to 16 consecutive games, as the Linn-Benton Baseball team swept Southwestern Oregon Community College on Saturday, May 6. 

The Roadrunners end the regular season with a record of 28-16 overall, and 23-13 in the NWAC South Region. The Lakers moved to 25-17 overall, and 18-14 in the NWAC South Region. 

In game one the Roadrunners offense sparked, taking down the Lakers 11-1. The Beaks got the party started early, loading the bases up, and bringing in 3 runs off a Trey Nelson sacrifice fly, and a 2-RBI single from Spencer Sullivan. Sullivans first RBI's of the season. The Roadrunners ended the game early after a 2-RBI single by Daniel Pruitt, invoked the 10-run rule, capping off a four run seventh inning. 

Brady Baltus shined on the mound going 7 innings, giving up 1 unearned run, on 7 hits, and 1 walk, while striking out 2. Baltus improves his record to 6-2 and finishes the regular season with 3.18 in 68 innings pitched. 

In game two the Roadrunners defeated the Lakers 2-0. Kaden Miller proved to be dominant once again, going 7 innings, allowing no runs, allowing one, walking 3, while striking out 5. Miller improved his record to 5-3, and ended the regular season with a 2.96 ERA. 

Next up, the Roadrunners await the end of regular season play for their playoff opponent. As of right now the Roadrunners stand as the second seed in the south region and will host a super regional playoff.
