Roadrunners Sweep Umpqua

ALBANY, Oregon –With the bases loaded Cole Cramer watched a pitch sink low and into the dirt on a 3-2 count for ball four, walking in the winning run and capping off a two game sweep of the Umpqua Riverhawks on Thursday March 16. 

The Roadrunners improved to 9-3 on the year, and 5-3 in the NWAC South Region. The Riverhawks fell to 9-7 on the year, and 3-5 in the NWAC South Region. 

In game one the Roadrunners defeated the Riverhawks 5-3. Roadrunners Brady Baltus went 6 innings without giving up a run, before surrendering 3 in the seventh inning. In the eighth inning Roadrunners Kyle Perkins knocked a 2-RBI single out to center field putting the Beaks up 5-3. Broderick Stanaway picked up the win for the Roadrunners. 

In game two the Roadrunners defeated the Riverhawks 3-2 in seven innings. The beaks found themselves down 2-1 heading into the sixth inning. Roadrunners Trey Nelson knocked a ball off the turf and over the head of the pitcher to bring in Cramer, tying the game. In the bottom of the seventh, Cramer would later draw a walk with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run. 

Next up the Roadrunners will travel to Oregon City to take on Clackamas Community College on Saturday, Mar. 18. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
