Roadrunners Go 4-0 in Season Opening Weekend

PASCO, Wash – The Linn-Benton Baseball team picked up right where they left off last season, sweeping Columbia Basin College, and Grays Harbor College in their season opening weekend. 

On Saturday, Feb. 17 the Roadrunners defeated Columbia Basin College, 7-6, and 10-2. In game one the Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a four-run fourth inning from the Hawks, capped off by a Hayden Matray three-run homer. 

The Beaks responded the next top half of the inning, exploding offensively, tying the game back up at 5-5. Roadrunners Trey Nelson cleared the bases with a three RBI double. 

Roadrunners Durham Sundberg brought in the game-winning run in the top half of the eighth inning. Beaks Camden Stephens picked up the win. 

In game two the Roadrunners shined offensively. Cole Cramer picked up two stolen bases, and Jordan Hockett knocked two doubles, for two RBI. Kaden Miller brought home the win, going four innings, giving up four hits, for two runs. 

On Sunday, Feb. 18, the Roadrunners defeated Grays Harbor, 13-3 and 5-4. 

In game one the Roadrunners held a slight 1-0 lead until the fourth-inning, after a Cramer triple brought in three runs. In the bottom half of the sixth-inning the Roadrunners piled on 5-runs. The game ended in seven-innings, due to the 10-run rule.* Roadrunners Chase Reynolds picked up the win, going 4.2 innings giving up two hits, for one unearned run. 

In game two, the Roadrunners ended the weekend in walk-off fashion. Kyle Perkins sent a pop-fly out to left field that allowed Titus Dumitru to score the game-winning run.

Next up the Roadrunners, will host Lane Community College for their season home-opener on Saturday, Mar. 4. First pitch is set for 11:00 A.M.
