Roadrunners Strike Gold Against Treasure Valley

ALBANY, OR – The Linn-Benton Volleyball team defeated Treasure Valley Community College 3-0( 25-5, 25-17, and 25-12.) on Tuesday, Aug. 30. 

The Roadrunners continued their hot start on the year, moving to 5-0 on the season. Treasure Valley Community College falls to 0-3 on the year.

In the first set the Roadrunners quickly jumped out to an 11-1 lead and with a barrage of service aces from Shalyn Gray and Lexi Eldridge. After the Chukars scored 3 straight points out of a timeout, the Beaks rallied off 8 straight points of their own. 

Early in the second set the Chukars showed signs of life, taking what would be their biggest lead of the game 7-4. The Roadrunners would come back to take a 12-9 lead before the Chukars would have to call a timeout. Out of the timeout the Roadrunners buried the hatchet going on an impressive 6 point run and sealing their lead. 

In the third set Roadrunners Freshmen Brooke Rogers had 5 service aces, and teammate Shelby Nichol had a service ace of her own to go along with 3 blocks. Nichol also had 3 kills on 3 attempts for the match. Gray finished the match with 5 kills on 10 attempts to go along with 5 service aces. 

"It feels pretty good. It just shows that our team is here to play their A-game." Gray said. "This year we're really just talking about how we have a target on our back, and so we need to play well. We need to know that we have to play our hardest every game."
