Roadrunners Split Home Opening Weekend

ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Men's Basketball team finished 1-1 in their home opening games on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday Nov. 27. The Roadrunners moved to 4-1 on the year.

GAME ONE

The Roadrunners defeated Treasure Valley Community College 88-81 in game one on Saturday. Roadrunners TJ Zimmerman poured in 24 points for the Beaks, his fourth game in double-figure scoring, and third game with 20 or more this season. Tyson parker, and Benet Bos added 14 points apiece for the Roadrunners. 

Although the Chukars were able to win the rebounding and turnover battle against the Beaks, they struggled behind the arch. The Chukars shot 8-30(26.7%) from behind the three-point line, opposed to the Roadrunners 8-18(44%) three-point mark. 

GAME TWO

The Roadrunners fell to Pierce College 85-68 in game two on Sunday. Offensively the Roadrunners shot 25-60(41%) from the floor, and 5-19(26%) from behind the three-point line. The Raiders shot 32-64(50%) from the floor, and 5-9 from behind the three-point line. 

It was a game of execution, and the Raiders ability to get out in transition and score 13 points off 16 Roadrunners turnovers and 11 second chance points  made the difference. 

Roadrunners Jace Mills led the scoring with 13 off the bench for the beaks. Raiders Michael Ajayi led the game with 27 points, shooting 9-16(56%) from the field. 

NEXT UP

The Roadrunners travel to Edmonds Community College for the Triton Classic. They'll take on Peninsula Community College on Saturday, Dec. 10. Tip-off is set for Noon.
