Roadrunners Drop One, and Walk It Off Against Umpqua

ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Roadrunners split two games 1-3. 3-2 against Umpqua Community College on Saturday, April. 2. The Roadrunners improved to 15-6-1 on the season, and 2-2 in the NWAC South Region. The Riverhawks improved to 15-9 on the season, 2-2 in the NWAC South Region. 

In game one the Riverhawks controlled most of the game limiting the Roadrunners offense to just 1 run on 4 hits. Riverhawks Carson Angeroth went a strong 7 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Roadrunner Kian Hogan went 4 and ⅓ innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. Cayden Delozier picked up the lone run for the Beaks with a solo home run shot to right field. 

In game two the Roadrunners found themselves down once again, 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Roadrunners Delozier stepped to the plate with 2 outs and 2 runners on third and first. On the first pitch, Delozier hit a deep drive to center field that fell in the gap. Roadrunners Ruben Cedillo and Emiliano Alercon both came around to score, giving the Beaks a 3-2 win. Riverhawks Andrew Pinedo pitched 5 ⅔ innings allowing only 1 run on 7 hits. Roadrunner Kaden Miller pitched 6  innings allowing only 4 hits and no earned runs. 

"It felt great, Ruben got on base and then Cole was on base, and they did their job, and it was time for me to do my job," Delozier said. "My approach was just fastball and barrel, that's what I take to every at bat. When I saw that fastball I was ready to go." 

Next up the Roadrunners stay home to take on Clackamas Community College on Thursday. April. 7. First pitch for game one  is set for 1 p.m. game two first pitch is set for 4 p.m at  Dick McClain Field, 500 Pacific Blvd S.W., Albany, OR. 

"I'm happy for Cayden, he has been working his butt off, he really put it all together today. A couple great defensive plays,and  his first college home run in game one," Roadrunner Head Coach Andy Peterson said. "It's one game at a time, everyone likes to try to look ahead, but it's one game at a time and one pitch at time."
