Roadrunners Offense Explodes Against Umpqua

ROSEBURG, Oregon - The Linn-Benton Baseball team split two games 3-4, 15-0 against Umpqua Community College on Thursday, March. 31. The Roadrunners moved to 14-5-1 on the season, and Umpqua community college moved to 14-8 on the season. 

In game one the Riverhawks jumped on the Roadrunners early scoring 2 runs in the first inning and 1 run in the third. In the seventh inning the Roadrunners tied it up with a double from Jake Morrow bringing in 1 run, and a double by Cayden Delozier bringing in 2 runs. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the game tied at 3, Dominik Tavares hit a walk-off single to give the Riverhawks a 4-3 win. Roadrunner Rhett Larson pitched  6 ⅓ innings with 8 strikeouts, giving up 3 earned runs on 8 hits. 

In game two the Roadrunners offense exploded for 15 runs. In the third inning the Roadrunners scored 12 runs on 8 hits, blowing the game wide open. 5 roadrunners finished with 2 or more RBI's. Roadrunner Michael Soper went 3 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBI's. Roadrunner Boone Rush pitched 5 scoreless innings, and struckout 7. The game ended in the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule. 

Next up the Roadrunners stay home to take on Umpqua Community College for two more games on Saturday, April. 2. Game one first pitch is set for 1 p.m. and game two first pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Dick McClain Field, 500 Pacific Blvd S.W., Albany, OR.
