Beaks Split First Doubleheader with Lane

ALBANY, Ore. - Linn-Benton lost the first game 4-2 before rallying in the nightcap to beat Lane 11-9 Thursday afternoon in NWAC South Region baseball action at Dick McClain Field.

The Roadrunners (33-9 overall, 29-5 in NWAC South) have already locked up the South Region title and will advance to the NWAC Baseball Championships May 23-27 at Lower Columbia College as the #1 Seed from the South Region.

In game one, Linn-Benton held a 2-1 lead after four innings before Lane tied the game in the fifth inning and scored two more in the seventh inning. Offensively, Aidan Dougherty went 3-5 and added a stolen base and Jake Dodge hit his second home run of the year. Seth Dreeszen took the loss for the Roadrunner with two innings of relief work.

In game two, the Roadrunners pounded out 14 hits and took a 9-6 lead after a three-run fifth inning. Dougherty again went 3-for-5 and added three RBIs. He led off the first inning with a solo home run and added a triple in the sixth inning. Dougherty also had two stolen bases. 

Ethan Buckley went 4-for-5 with an RBI and Kolten Lindstrom and Andrew Demianew each had two RBIs for Linn-Benton. Logan Miller earned the win on the mound.

The Roadrunners host Lane Saturday in the series and regular season finale for both teams.
