Roadrunners Sprinting for the Finish

ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Baseball team split their doubleheader on Saturday, May. 7. against Mt.Hood Community College. 

The Roadrunners moved to 28-11 on the season, and 15-7 in the NWAC South Region. The Saints moved to 27-12 on the season, and 13-9 in the NWAC South Region. 

In game one, the Roadrunners fell to the Saints 6-2. Saints Jeff Nelson picked up the win on the mound. Nelson went 8 scoreless innings, giving up only 5 hits, and striking out 6. 

Roadrunner Kaden Segel started the game on the mound and went a strong 6 innings only giving up 1 run, before allowing 3 runs in the seventh inning. Overall Segel went 7 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. 

In game two the Roadrunners defeated the Saints 2-0. Roadrunner Boone Rush was dominant on the mound. Rush went 8 ⅓ scoreless innings, allowing only 4 hits. 

"Fastball location was better today than it has been." Rush said. "We had Pat Bailey come in and talk to us, and he talked to me a lot about having a fine focus when you're pitching." 

Chase Reynolds picked up the save for the Roadrunners finishing off the final two batters in the ninth. Jake Hoskins picked up an RBI with a single in the bottom of the second. 

Next up the Roadrunners will take on the Saints for two more games on Monday, May. 7, weather permitting. The location for the game is still TBA. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and game two first pitch is set for 4 p.m.

"...Our team felt like we didn't play as well as we could have, and we know this is an important series in order to win the league, and we gotta beat these guys." Rush said.
