LONGVIEW, Wash. — Lower Columbia College jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and shut down Linn-Benton's bats en route to an 11-1 victory in the 2019 NWAC Baseball Championship Saturday.
The loss ended the Roadrunners' season with an overall record of 31-11. Lower Columbia remains alive in the tournament and will face either Tacoma or Everett on Sunday.
Lower Columbia's starter Yancy Bird pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings and struck out 13 batters. The Red Devils won the NWAC Championship in 2018.
