LONGVIEW, Wash. — Austen Carpenter pitched a 3-hit shutout to lead Linn-Benton Community College past Edmonds in the NWAC Baseball Championship Friday morning.
The Roadrunners advance and will play Lower Columbia Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Edmonds is now eliminated from the Championship.
Linn-Benton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added three more runs in the third inning with a sacrifice fly by Jordan Mambaje, a single by Parker Kuntz and a double from Jacob Melton. Kuntz' single scored Melton and Richard Mascarenas.
In addition to pitching nine shutout innings, Carpenter also struck out 13 batters.
