Roadrunners Sweep Chemeketa, Remain on Top of NWAC South

ALBANY, Ore. — A pair of strong pitching performances and explosive bats helped lead Linn-Benton Community College past Chemeketa in NWAC Southern Region baseball action Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners swept the Storm 7-5 in game one and 10-2 in the nightcap.

The wins improved Linn-Benton's record to 16-2 in the NWAC South and 26-7 overall. The Storm dropped to 8-10 and 21-15 overall. The Roadrunners remain in first place in the NWAC South.

Daniel Ferrario gave up just two hits in eight innings of work in the first game to earn the win. Offensively, Fridtjof Fremstad went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead LBCC.

Austen Carpenter pitched a complete game two-hitter for the Roadrunners, earning the win in the nightcap. Parker Kuntz went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the nightcap for the Roadrunners.

Chemeketa took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and held on until the Roadrunners exploded for a 10-run fourth inning that broke the game open. 

Jacob Melton, Jordan Mambaje and Maxwell Long each recorded two hits in the nightcap for the Roadrunners. 

Linn-Benton travels to Salem on Saturday for the final two games of the series with Chemeketa. The first game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
