Roadrunners Split at Mt. Hood

GRESHAM, Ore. — Linn-Benton Community College topped Mt. Hood 11-8 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday evening, but the Saints bounced back and blanked the Roadrunners 6-0 in the nightcap.

The Roadrunners are now 11-1 in NWAC Southern Region play and 21-6 overall. Mt. Hood improved to 6-2 and 16-7 overall. LBCC still sits on top of the NWAC Southern Region standings with Mt. Hood in second place.

In game one, Dequan Dennis-Lee and Fridtjob Fremstad each went 3-for-5 and Richard Mascarenas went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Roadrunners' offense. Starter Daniel Ferrario earned the win with five innings of work on the mound.

In game two, the Saints had their ace, Dawson Day, on the mound and he recorded the one-hit shutout win. Day struckout 14 batters in his six innings of work.

For the Roadrunners, Marcus Lydon recorded the only hit in the nightcap for LBCC.

Mt. Hood visits Linn-Benton on Saturday for the second half of this series. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
