Roadrunners Complete Series Sweep of SWOCC

ALBANY, Ore. — Linn-Benton Community College opened NWAC Southern Region play with a series sweep of Southwestern Oregon, including today's doubleheader, 11-0 and 9-4. The Roadrunners' strong hitting carried over from Friday's games, recording 22 hits in Saturday's games.

Linn-Benton improved to 14-5 on the season and 4-0 in the NWAC Southern Region.

In the first game shutout, winning pitcher Eric Hill went six innings for the Roadrunners, giving up one hit, walking one an striking out eight batters. Offensively, Richard Mascarenas went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead LBCC. Jacob Melton and Colton Talton each hit home runs for LBCC. The Roadrunners collected 13 hits in the game.

In game two, Parker Kuntz, Marcus Lydon and Maxwell Long each notched two hits for the Roadrunners. Lydon added three RBIs and a run scored.

Talton hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score at 2-2. The Roadrunners trailed 4-3 after two innings but tied it up 4-4 in the fourth inning on one of Lydon's RBIs. LBCC took the lead for good in the fifth inning. 

Starter Caden Hennessy earned the win for the Roadrunners in game two.

Linn-Benton next hosts Clark College on Friday with the first game starting at 2:00 p.m.
