Roadrunners Fall to Blue Mountain 9-6

ALBANY, Ore. — Linn-Benton could not overcome 12 hits by Blue Mountain and four of its own errors as the Roadrunners suffered their first loss of season Saturday afternoon, 9-6, in non-conference NWAC baseball action.

Starter Austen Carpenter (1-1) took the loss for Linn-Benton, which dropped to 5-1 overall on the season. Blue Mountain improved to 5-2 on the season behind Dylan Grogan's five-inning, no-hit effort.

Offensively, the Roadrunners were stalled until the seventh inning when they scored four runs. They added two more in the bottom of the ninth but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.

Jacob Melton continued his consistent offensive contribution, recording two hits and an RBI.

For Blue Mountain, Alex Salsman and Gage Young each contributed three hits.

Linn-Benton and Blue Mountain square off Sunday in a double-header with the first game set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
