ALBANY, Ore. — Freshman Jacob Melton (Medford, Ore.) went 3-4 with a triple and one RBI to lead Linn-Benton past visiting Yakima Valley 7-0 in non-conference NWAC baseball action Friday afternoon.
The win improved the Roadrunners record to 5-0 on the season. Yakima dropped to 3-6.
Brock Townsend notched the win for Linn-Benton with five innings of scoreless work for the Roadrunners. The win lifted his record to 2-0 on the year. Caden Hennessy and Daniel Ferrario pitched three innings and one inning in relief for the Roadrunners, respectively.
The Roadrunners next host Blue Mountain on Saturday for a single game starting at 2:00 p.m. and will host a double-header on Sunday with Blue Mountain, game times are 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
